Color sensor module.
The module is a complete color detector, includes a TAOS TCS3200 RGB sensor chip and 4 wide-angle white LEDs. The TCS3200 can detect and measure an almost unlimited range of visible colors. Applications include color sorting, ambient light sensing, calibration, and color matching, to name a few.

The TCS3200 has an array of detectors, each with red, green, and blue filters or no filter (clear). Filters for each color are evenly distributed throughout the array to eliminate placement bias between colors. The device has an oscillator that produces a square wave output whose frequency is proportional to the intensity of the chosen color.
