Features
The FTDI USB serial converter is a programmer, with which you can program other models such as a Pro mini compatible with Arduino and even the ESP8266. The most common programmer is the FT232R model from the FTDI company (Future Technology Devices International).
This board converts the USB connection into 5 volt TX and RX that you can connect directly to the Arduino Ethernet board or any other boards, via an FTDI compatible programming cable.
It has the Atmega8U2 programmed as a converter from USB to serial. This chip is found on the Arduino Uno. The USB serial module has an ISCP interface, which allows the chip to be reprogrammed when placed in DFU mode. The connector pins are compatible with the FTDI standard.
