Model: HMC5883L.
3-axis magnetometer sensor module.
3-axis magnetometer that you can use as a compass or digital compass. Its communication interface is I2C type so it can be connected to a wide range of digital systems. It has an on-board voltage regulator, so it can be powered directly with 5 V. Likewise, the I2C port is compatible with both 3.3 V and 5 V, without the need to use an additional converter.
Its small size makes it ideal for projects such as Drones (UAVs) and autonomous navigation systems. The sensor detects the strongest magnetic field, which is commonly the Earth's magnetic field, from which Magnetic North can be found.
We recommend using it so that the module is parallel to the ground and away from magnets, otherwise the readings will be erroneous. You can compensate for this by using an additional inertial sensor such as the MPU6050.
It has 2 holes for mounting or you can solder it directly using a 6-pin header.
